Intellias Automotive Technology Platform

With the goal to provide automotive OEMs and Tier 1 suppliers a hands-on experience of how diverse technology ecosystem could be implemented and benefit their products, Intellias has created an Automotive Technology Platform that consists of two connected Portable Kits.

The first one is the Automotive Portable Kit, a multi-layer demo which showcases different car modules including fully functional digital cockpit with in-demand infotainment features, sensors, and cloud connectivity. The second one is the ECU Portable Kit that simulates real-car signals and usage scenarios, communicating them through CAN Bus.

This Automotive Technology Platform is created by Intellias to showcase the engineering expertise we provide to our clients. It highlights our capabilities in integrating automotive-grade hardware, cloud platforms, and tools, developing embedded and middleware software, and designing breathtaking user interfaces.

Automotive-Grade Innovation from Chip to Cloud

IntelliKit results from the collaboration of market-leading players, each contributing their unique solutions, with Intellias orchestrating the integration from chip to cloud. The kit comes with a distinct HMI design created using the Kanzi toolchain with modern 3D UI/UX. It provides on-the-edge capabilities powered by QNX IVY, seamlessly integrated with AWS Cloud services for enhanced processing inside the vehicle and in the cloud. IntelliKit is enriched with multimedia content available through 3Ready entertainment platform from 3SS.

Orchestrating Diverse Hardware and Tools

IntelliKit versatile functionality, flexible architecture, and hardware-agnostic development approach allow Intellias to orchestrate solutions from diverse vendors, leveraging the benefits of the most recent technologies on the market.

As for today, we assembled IntelliKit in two configurations, each powered by a unique set of hardware and tools from our partners, operating on different core platforms. These demo kits are a testament to Intellias expertise in implementing joint solutions, showcasing how a collaborative approach drives the future of mobility.

Renesas-based IntelliKit

The Renesas-based configuration of IntelliKit is powered by the Renesas R-Car H3-based SoC with a Hypervisor-less solution featuring RTOS and Android OS for the Instrument Cluster (IC) and In-Vehicle Infotainment (IVI) components. IntelliKit is equipped with a full-HD sensor display that provides access to TomTom navigation, whether forecast, multimedia player, and HVAC. The system boot time is just 300 milliseconds thanks to minimal dependence on booting Hypervisor and the Linux kernel. Two operating systems communicate with each other, sharing CAN messages and facilitating Android OS health checks through a virtual channel.

What’s Inside the Intellias Automotive
Portable Kit

Instrument cluster

IntelliKit includes integrated minimap and a variety of gauges that display the car’s status, such as speed, acceleration, battery level, regenerative braking, information on milage, time, and range. Users can also try ADAS functions like digital mirrors, road signs, lane assistance, obstacle and pedestrian detection. The prototype indicates the state of fog lights, headlights, seatbelts, airbags, ESP, ABS, engine, hazard warning lights, driving mode, body light, and turn lights.

Infotainment

A specially designed infotainment dashboard gives access to the MapBox navigation system, climate controls, multimedia player and radio, weather forecast, and Bluetooth connectivity. We integrated IntelliKit with AWS cloud to enable telematics data sharing and in-depth analytics. This demo is designed as a modular system, so each component can be developed and assembled using solutions from different partners.

Intellias ECU Portable Kit

To establish a high level of connectivity and provide experience of using real in-vehicle systems, we developed the ECU Portable Kit, an additional ECU module, which simulates real car signals, including speed, battery charge level, regenerative braking, and switches like high beam, low beam, and turn signals.

The ECU Kit is based on the Infineon AURIX TriCore T375 and runs Vector AUTOSAR Classic, communicating with Complex Digital Cockpit via the CAN bus interface. Additionally, the ECU Kit can simulate multimedia vehicle system elements like controlling volume on the steering wheel, next and previous track, and more. The ECU Kit is developed according to ASPICE requirements and obtained ASPICE CL2 with corresponding VDA record.

Broad user Scenarios along the Journey

We present IntelliKit functionality with three demo scenarios that display real-life simulations of vehicle conditions: driving, charging, and road accident scenarios. After starting the demo, the scenarios run one by one. You can see changes in speed, direction, movement, and other vehicle conditions on the instrument cluster and navigation. At any moment, we can switch to CAN BUS mode using our ECU module to manually send signals reflecting vehicle behavior.

journey map
Scenario 1
Driving

The driver arrives at the charging station, stops the car, and starts charging it. After the vehicle has been charged, the driver enters the car and starts driving to the destination. After the trip, the driver parks the car, exits the car, and locks it.

Scenario 2
Charging

The car discharges while driving, so the driver is looking for the nearest charging station. The driver stops and parks the car in reverse, gets out of the car, and plugs in the charger. The car is charged, and after, it is ready to continue the trip.

Scenario 3
Road accident

After noticing the engine check indicator, the driver turns on the accident light and stops on the side of the road. The driver checks out what happened. After indicating the engine dysfunction, the driver rides to the repair station with the speed limit and accident lights on.
